Do you ever walk into a place and instantly feel like you belong here?
That’s the kind of feeling we work hard to create at Fresh Routes through our inclusive community markets. Fresh Routes markets are not just about fresh and affordable produce, but it’s way more than that, it’s about the fresh connections one makes whenever they visit the market. At Fresh Routes, we believe that food is a right, not a privilege, and that everyone deserves to shop in a space where they feel seen, safe, and celebrated.
As a team we make sure that our markets welcome everyone!
Inclusive Community Markets: A Space Where You Can Be Yourself
We’re proud to serve diverse Calgarian communities by creating inclusive, welcoming spaces where people of all backgrounds feel they belong here such as families, newcomers, seniors, students, 2SLGBTQI+ folks, and everyone in between. Diversity isn’t just something we talk about; it’s who we are.
Fresh Routes is committed to creating inclusive, welcoming spaces where people of all backgrounds feel they belong. When you visit a Fresh Routes market, you’re walking into a space built for your community and, most importantly, you!
At Fresh Routes, we don’t just serve the community, we are the community!

Accessibility is our Priority
Accessible grocery shopping in Calgary is much more than the location itself; it’s about creating an environment that works for everyone. Grocery shopping should be easy and comfortable for everyone, no matter your age, mobility, or needs. That’s why we bring our mobile grocery stores to Calgary areas that don’t have easy access to food, so people don’t need to travel far for fresh groceries.
We also know that economic accessibility matters. Our prices are intentionally low to ensure everyone, regardless of income, can shop with dignity. That’s why we offer fresh, affordable produce in familiar, welcoming spaces. This helps remove financial and geographic barriers that often keep people from accessing good food.
Whether you’re navigating mobility challenges, tight budgets, or a busy schedule, our goal is to make grocery shopping easy, respectful, and inclusive for everybody, in every community.

Staff that Puts You First
Fresh Routes is supported by a passionate team and community volunteers, people who share the same values and commitment. At the same time, Fresh Routes, staff, and volunteers receive training in cultural sensitivity and inclusion, ensuring every shopper feels respected, heard, and welcomed at our inclusive grocery markets.
This training helps our team understand the different needs of the people we serve, like newcomers, Indigenous groups, LGBTQ2S+ folks, and more. Whether it’s offering language support, being mindful of dietary restrictions, or simply listening without judgment, our staff are here to serve with compassion and care.

Community Voices Shape Inclusive Markets
Our company is built around community voice; we listen, we learn, and we evolve based on what people need. Your feedback is not only appreciated, but it’s the foundation of our growth. From adding culturally relevant foods to launching the Fresh Routes GO! and at the same time providing delivery services for seniors and those with mobility challenges, the organization continually evolves to meet the real needs of the people it serves. Informed by surveys, focus groups, and on-the-ground conversations.
With over 2,000 families visiting markets monthly, and strong partnerships with organizations like RBC, Nutrien, and Alberta Blue Cross, Fresh Routes continues to prove that when you listen to your community, you build something truly meaningful.
